Amy Lenkszus

WHY DID YOU BECOME A YOGA TEACHER?
Honestly…so I could learn the Sumits sequence because I MISSED it when I realized no studios here in Memphis offered it. It was the perfect combination of a workout and a meditation and over the years of practicing it I saw my body, mind, and soul transform. I opened SANA Yoga (formerly as Sumits Yoga Memphis) to share the transformational qualities of that practice with others, and to be a welcoming place for every day yoga for every body.

WHY DO YOU CONTINUE TO TEACH YOGA?
I never worried about being a good teacher- instead I wanted to grow and train good teachers and we have an amazing teaching team. But any time I get back in the room, whether I’m teaching or practicing, it feels like I’m coming home to my body/mind/soul. And the community of students and teachers at our studio just moves me- everyone is so passionate, welcoming, and caring.
The 80 minute is my favorite to take and to teach.

WHY SANA Yoga?
Even though our signature class sequence rarely changes, every single day is so different. Knowing what to expect allows me to zone out, get out of my head, and be present in a very meditative way. And my body doesn’t feel the same when I’m not practicing it 4-5 times a week…I still crave it.

Anne Marie Wyatt

Born and Raised in Memphis! I have three children who I adore. I started practicing yoga consistently 6 years ago when I joined Sana Yoga. I fell in love immediately! Like a lot of people, I initially started to gain strength and flexibility, but it grew into so much more. I’m at peace when I’m in the studio; those doors close, and for an hour or so, nothing else matters. Teaching was a natural next step…I want to spread this goodness everywhere! I’m so happy to be a part of the Sana Community.

WHY DID YOU BECOME A YOGA TEACHER?
Yoga snuck up on me. First it was exercise, then it was therapy, then it was a way of life. Now it’s all those things and more wrapped up in an ever-evolving practice. Yoga is the first thing in my life about which I felt “I can’t NOT share this with others.”

WHY DO YOU CONTINUE TO TEACH YOGA?
Yoga provides a foundation for expansion and growth across all areas of life. My yoga teaching practice continually evolves and grows and I love sharing that with students, all of whom are on their own journeys as well.

WHY SANA Yoga?
“Compassionate Inclusion” is the description that always comes to mind when I think about the SANA yoga sequence in particular and the SANA studio in general. This practice/studio make yoga accessible to anyone who wants to try. Holding that space for whomever walks through the door is such valuable thing and why I continue to embrace being a part of SANA Yoga.

Jasmine Sullivan

Hello! My name is Jasmine Sullivan and am a yoga student and teacher lucky enough to be practicing in Memphis, TN. I practice yoga because I love it’s ability to help me understand and nurture both my mind and body. Consistently, no matter what a season of life has thrown my way, yoga helped me move with the experience and grow. Because of this, I truely feel that anybody can “do” yoga at any age, size, or state of mind. I look forward to seeing you on your mat!

WHY DID YOU BECOME A YOGA TEACHER?
“You face your fear because your goal demands it” -Alex Honnold
This was the calling I never knew I needed. One simple invitation to come take a class and actually doing that class changed my life. I did not realize the answer to this question until AFTER I went through my yoga teacher training (2017). There are plenty of reasons for my why. The main one would be to know thyself better and to help others on this journey of taking pause, letting go, regaining sense of purpose, and feeling good about oneself through mindful movement and meditation.

WHY DO YOU CONTINUE TO TEACH YOGA?
“I am not teaching you anything. I just help you to explore yourself.” -Bruce Lee
It’s a lifelong love song to know yourself more intricately, to connect, and to practice mindfulness every day. Teaching gives me sense of purpose and clarity to who I was born to be. Along the way, I am going to extend the lessons I learn through my own journey of little self enlightenments and knowledge of movement, meditation, and breath connection to each student to continue to help them feel better about their own journey no matter what the day entails. My favorite mantra to share is “Calm, Peace, Smile, Release”

WHY SANA YOGA?

WHY DID YOU BECOME A YOGA TEACHER?
My initial reason for going through yoga teacher training was for personal growth and to elevate my own yoga practice. I never could’ve imagined how that 200 hours would change my life forever in the most amazing ways.Learning to embrace the continual balance between effort and ease on my mat and in my daily life was one of the most important lessons I learned during my ytt and one that I love to share with my students.

WHY DO YOU CONTINUE TO TEACH YOGA?
Teaching is my passion and it brings me so much joy to share this life-changing practice with others!
